On the market...

My weekend real estate stalking has uncovered this landmark home in one of Brisbane's riverside suburbs which has been listed for sale. Its grand proportions are evident from the formal landscaped gardens as you enter through the beautiful iron gates. The home has recently undergone 4 years of renovations.

The beautiful antique gates (and no these are not the main entry gates) open as you anticipate what lies in the garden beyond...

The french provincial style kitchen

The dining room, sitting room and library lead off the grand foyer and hallway.

one of the four bathrooms...

The back terrace overlooks the swimming pool and Brisbane river beyond.

While I prefer to live in a home which is a little more casual than this, I appreciate the design and it is always a treat to see into these iconic homes, I absolutely adore the landscaped gardens and its architectural elements.

You can see more images of the home here.

Well if you were thinking of putting in an offer, it is already under contract....maybe next time!

Great find, and a beautiful house! I can see why it is under contract. Like you, I prefer a home that is more casual (although casual elegant is probably more what I like), but there is so much to admire about this home - I love the antique gates and the look and feel of the inside.

Just can't believe this is in Brissie! I think I'd be happier in a big old Queenslander in Chelmer, but yes, this is very swish & elegant!

one of my favorite features in a home is a terrace like the one of this home. Extending the total back width of house, and with all rooms opening up on it... It's always a plreasure exploring these formal and sophisticated homes.

Amanda thank you for sharing the photos of this stunning home. It is incredible. I have yet traveled to Australia & it is quite fun to view a slice of real estate heaven. I've got to tell you that some of the most incredible blogs I've had the good fortune of running across, are from Australia. What's in the water there?

4 years of renovation! Wow! We're going through a 2-year reno, and our house is not nearly as big and beautiful as this one!

How's the housing market there?

Here... if you "over renovate"...you are outta luck on getting a return on the intial investment of the improvements done..

Nice home!

This is indeed a great home, but I like you and others prefer more casual elegance. A more "homey" feel.

The grounds are so lovely.

Hi Amanda,
Great find! How much was it listed for? Just curious:) The gates and the back terrace overlooking the swimming pool are to die for..holy moly!
I also want to apologize for not stopping by for a while..I have been pretty busy with my job search, but I did finally go to the Hampton Designer Showhouse yesterday...I really needed that to recharge my inner interior design battery..My dream job is coming soon, I know it..just have to be patient! Hope you can stop by, i posted the pics of my day...
