Blogger's Unite

Today is Blog Action Day and the topic this year is Poverty. I was excited to get the heads up about this day from one of my favourite blogger's, Pia.  It gives me goose bumps to think that blogger's are able to unite together for one day to speak about poverty.

I have been blessed with work and a home - never experiencing poverty.  A small way I can help is to provide assistance and stimulate awareness for this day.  There are many wonderful groups and organisations here and overseas that are doing something to try and reduce poverty.  So.... Leave a comment on this post within the next few days and I will donate two dollars per comment to the Nakuru Baby Orphanage in Kenya - an amazing couple,  Ivan and Mary,  sold their home in Australia four years ago and moved to Kenya with their family to start the orphanage where they now look after 35 babies and children.  I encourage you to take a look at how much they have achieved in such a short time.

So all you have to do is read this post and more importantly...comment!!

I too have copied Amanda! I love the idea and always jump at the chance to be involved in humanitarian action, even if it is from our living rooms! I think the orphanage sounds like a fantastic cause, what wonderful people that family must be xx

How wonderfully noteable of you, Amanda......Poverty is often overlooked and it's a shame too. I have also been blessed not to have experienced it. You don't have to look very far to find POVERTY and I commend you for bringing our attention to this sadly prevalent condition.
Thanks so much!

I click over here from Kimberlee's blog, and I think it is brilliant you are donating based on comments! I hope you get lots and lots!

HI Amanda!

Great job! I will spread & post this too tomorrow (SE time) so swedish bloggers might open their minds helping the needy.

I myself, had sent 3 boys in school since they we're in grade school. All of them finished college at the university of Marine School where I came from. All are seamen. 1 is working now, 1 is on the way to take a tasks in Europe & the 3rd one is still in training.

I supported the whole school where I went in elementary & high school.
Bought their daily needs & books & even their lunch & dentist. Am not rich but my heart is.

My project this time is to gather how many computers as I can & send to this school. My problem is how to get a support from the Swedish government for the shipping. As a private person sending electronics, it can ruin my economy. But, HE look at me and give me the right way.

Million thanks for giving the ladies this idea.

JOB WELL DONE!

my $2. :) it's good of you to do this.

for my part, i turn to sites like freerice (rice donation), kiva (microfinance), and goodsearch (donation per search), as ways to help alleviate poverty online. i also put up their banners on my blog. :)

it's great that you're participating in blog action day. :) i especially appreciate it as i come from a country where poverty is endemic.
