On the market...

My weekend real estate stalking has uncovered this landmark home in one of Brisbane's riverside suburbs which has been listed for sale. Its grand proportions are evident from the formal landscaped gardens as you enter through the beautiful iron gates. The home has recently undergone 4 years of renovations.

The beautiful antique gates (and no these are not the main entry gates) open as you anticipate what lies in the garden beyond...

The french provincial style kitchen

The dining room, sitting room and library lead off the grand foyer and hallway.

one of the four bathrooms...

The back terrace overlooks the swimming pool and Brisbane river beyond.

While I prefer to live in a home which is a little more casual than this, I appreciate the design and it is always a treat to see into these iconic homes, I absolutely adore the landscaped gardens and its architectural elements.

You can see more images of the home here.

Well if you were thinking of putting in an offer, it is already under contract....maybe next time!

Loving...

Hope you are all having a fabulous start to the week. I thought I would share these beautiful images by Ann Lindberg who takes the most spectacular photo's! I think there is something wonderful about the simplicity and light in this room. I am loving the grouping of artwork, the parquet floors and the combination of the flowers and wallpaper.

Fresh Traditional...

These lovely room images are from the portfolio of Austin Harrelson a Miami based design firm. He has been previously named by House Beautiful as one of "America's Top Young Designers".

I LOVE built in bookshelves - they would have to be one of my favourite architectural features! The bordered detail around the roman blinds is beautiful. I have been using bordered Romans in a few of my projects recently and love the way they look in a room.

a room has to have a gorgeous posy of flowers....

I love the use of two different chairs around the antique table and the use of the zinc lantern.

For me the bedroom, although you cannot see much of it, looks very comfortable and practical - not too "designed".

Aerin's Style

I am loving the latest pictures of Aerin Lauder's Hamptons house which features in this month's Elle Decor magazine. I adore her vintage Frances Elkins Loop bar stools!

I have blogged about her bedroom before as she used Michael Devine fabric on the walls and bedskirt which is available in Australia through Oliveaux....this image shows another angle of the room. I love how it is really simple allowing the fabric to make a great statement. I also like the boarder detail on the curtains.

A beautiful and feminine dressing room in her apartment...Love the curtains and wallpaper.

The boys bedroom they have used a stunning green wallpaper and I like the border and monogram of yellow on the bed linen.

My weekend inspiration....

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. It is school holidays here this week so we have been busy trying to squeeze in some activities as well as a bit of work. Thank you all so much for your beautiful comments this week. It is very inspiring and encouraging to read them all. Sometimes progress seems a little slow when you are renovating so thank you!!

I have found these beautiful gardens in Sydney designed by Landart and am using these as inspiration for my yard. I hope to spend the weekend doing some work in my garden...if only they were in Brisbane I would let them come and work their magic in my yard....hopefully one day it will resemble something these.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!!

Sneak peek at my kitchen...

I hope you all had a great weekend! I thought I would start the week off with a snap shot of my kitchen (taken on my phone...sorry about the quality). As many of you know I am currently renovating a cottage and the kitchen was one of the first things that had to go! I pulled out the original 1930's kitchen which was long overdue for an update. Although the space is still 'cozy' it is now a lot more functional and I enjoy cooking in it.

Beautiful Style...

I love the work of Interior Stylist Claudia Bryant who is based in the UK.
There are many elements about her rooms I love....a spot to enjoy at the top of the stairs, I like the cluster of frames and the vintage balustrade.

I adore velvet fabric...the colours in this room are beautiful.

Two of my favourite things on display...books and flowers!!

My backyard...

My paving has finally been finished and I am no longer walking out my backdoor onto dirt...hooray! I potted these Geraniums last weekend which I have been patiently growing from cuttings. This weekend I will be digging garden beds and getting the ground ready for grass. Hope you all have a great weekend! xx

Bathrooms...

Beautiful bathroom spaces from my files I love....I have used these same hexagonal floor tiles in my bathroom which I have recently rennovated. I will share some images as soon as the painting is finished!

I love shutters in bathrooms...

I love the use of time worn pieces like this dressing table which has been given a new life in this bathroom.

....this ledge provides the perfect space for displaying beautiful pieces in a bathroom with limited space.

Simple Style...

I love these gorgeous images by stylist and photographer Anna Williams. I especially love the simplicity of the drawers and tablescape in this entryway and the muted colours.

...and this beautiful terrace.

Weekend...

Happy weekend to you all...it is a long weekend here and so I am planning to get a few jobs done around the house. The landscaper has managed to finish my retaining wall amidst all the rain we have had this week and hopefully by next week he should have the paving completed as well. Hopefully we get some sunshine over the weekend to dry out all of the mud surrounding my home. I am really looking forward to being able to plant the garden.

Have a beautiful weekend! x
