Bohemian Chic

This chic New York loft apartment owned by Sibella Court, an Australian interior stylist, has been receiving some recent press attention. Her work as a stylist is often featured in many of the magazines I read including Vogue Living, Inside Outside and now Living etc amongst other's. Sibella moved to New York in 1999 and has recently opened an interiors store named The Society in Paddington, Sydney. Living etc describes her as the "go to girl for magazines and designer brands looking for a unique take on interiors style." Her style can definitely be described as eclectic and quirky...but something draws me to these images.

I always find it inspiring to read about designers or stylists and love having a small glimpse into their lives and what inspires them. I love the way these images show Sibella's personal style and I would love to visit her store next time I am in Sydney!

The week that is...

I have had a busy week so far and have not had much of a chance to Blog! My house has been overtaken by the painter this week!! I am renovating a 1930's house and I had pulled off the original wallpaper (with a coat of paint over it!) when I first moved in. In the past few months I have redone the kitchen & bathroom so its great to finally get the painters in and finish these rooms!

French Inspiration

These beautiful images are from Kobe, one of the fabric ranges from Europe we have at Oliveaux. The Tournelle collection is inspired by Marie Antoinette and as you can see is very french! The curtain in the first image is made with a stunning aqua silk damask and there are some cute upholstery fabrics like on this french chair. I love the fireplace and the doors in the building used for the photoshoot, we just do not get buildings like this here!!

A Weekend House...

A beautiful image of New England style homes which I found on flickr makes me want a weekender like this!! I only wish I could see inside...hope you all have a fun weekend.

Lovely Paintings

Here is some beautiful paintings by Holly Farrell, my Mum emailed to me earlier in the week...a little out of my price range but very cute! Wouldn't they look lovely hung in a cluster amongst other vintage paintings.

Today's Inspiration

I am often inspired by the many beautiful blogs out there and these images from the lovely Michelle Adams, author of M.A Belle blog are no exception. She has shared some beautiful photos of J.K Capri hotel which she visited on her recent trip to Italy...I just have to put them on my blog!! Michelle is the talented lady behind the beautiful Rubie Green fabrics disributed via Oliveaux.

If you go to her site she has a lot more images and perfect descriptions of many of the hotel's features and furnishings.

This is the beautiful library. I love the white wing chairs and again the stunning sconces. Beautiful design books to read, flowers...just stunning!

Linen Chair

I find I am always drawn to either white or natural tone rooms - to me they are very relaxing! I love the way the linen has been used for this stunning chair and the curtains. It is a perfect look for our casual Australian homes and I know at Oliveaux we are now seeing designers using a lot more linen. I love this white room and all its architectural elements...I wish I could find some chairs like this on ebay or at my local antique shop - so simply beautiful!!

Magical Townhouse

The living room has beautiful floor to ceiling curtains, plump cushions and natural fabrics all making this room comfortably elegant. I love the large windows which throw in plenty of light. I would love to have some billowing silk curtains like these made in a similar Oliveaux fabric for my bedroom. I love the way the home has that"lived in" feel.

Mamma Mia!

I went and saw Mamma Mia last night with my daughter and friends...based on the musical, the cast break out in ABBA at any opportune moment which I enjoyed hearing sung in their own voices. Loved the set, Greek Island coastline and beautiful Villa...a great fun movie!! I won't say anymore about it in case you are yet to see it.

I was excited to finally see the magazine arrive out here (a little behind hey!!)...this bedroom features Michael's "Fretwork Choclolate" fabric for the roman blinds. New England Style home...

This beautiful house is in Chelmer a Brisbane riverside suburb. It was on the market a few months ago...It caught my attention when it featured in Brisbane News, a free publication which is delivered to my letterbox each week. I had to do a drive by just to see it!! Chelmer is often voted as having Brisbane's most livable street and this house is a testament to that...enjoy!

I love white kitchens with stone tops and the beautiful big windows off the dining area.

I love the built in book shelves and the striped sofa...wouldn't it look great with some Oliveaux fabrics on it!!
And maybe a large buttoned ottoman.

Reminiscing of Paris...

I have just been going through some photo's of my trip to Paris in January. A must visit is the markets where I saw so many beautiful things I wanted to take home with me!!

The Designers Guild stand at Maison & Objet was stunning! They designed several rooms around the stand in the new release fabrics for 2008. I have enjoyed re looking at these images and all the different ways they have used their fabrics. Very inspiring don't you agree???
